Is duality worse than ignorance?

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa
Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Now and again you meet people who are totally engrossed in parties, drug and alcohol, and spend most of their time trying to achieve the "high" that they get from these things. Most of the time these people are ignorant of the effect that these things are having to their body and soul, or just don't care because they can't see the bigger picture.

But then there are people who take part in actions that they know will harm them or others. They might be addicted to drugs and have tried to quit numerous times, but just couldn't. They may be people who try to do sadhana in the morning, but just can't seem to wake up. They may be people who know that chanting the name of Waheguru is the ultimate high, but opt out on other things. They may be people who know that bullying someone is wrong, but do nothing to stop it. These people live in a state of duality.

So the question is : Is duality worse than ignorance?

What are your thoughts?

  1. I think duality is worse than ignorance, because if someone is ignorant at least there is a chance that some day they will realize what they are doing is harming themselves and others, and they may change their ways. With duality, the person knows they are doing something wrong and they are still doing it so there is little chance that will change. At least with ignorance you can have that realization that could change everything.

  2. Duality in eastern religions mean taking this world at face value. This world is God's grand play. All of us are actors. The play was written by God. Satguru ji is the teacher that tries to wake us to truth. He(they, 10 masters) are saying Sat(meaning God is truth- God exists- We cannot see, hear, feel, smell touch God because God is formless and beyond our limited understanding and is all inclusive(seen and unseen). Only way to contact God is to call upon His/Her(no form) Name. But Human beings are attached and engrossed and obssed in drama of this world. But humans have no control either because that's God's will. In Shri Guru Granth Sahib ji, Satguru ji says "Maan(Oh my mind) toon jyot sarup hain, apna mool pachan.." Oh my mind you are God's light know who you are..

That wisdom comes to us in God's merci... Hence gratitude...For the healthy body, healthy mind, wealth and love and security we have in our lives and hence the prayer and the rememberence of God's name. Wake up to the wisdom of the Satguruji
