I saw this great episode from Nanak Naam where this Sikh couple talks about marriage. I think one of the key points I walked away with was that while having a relationship is a deeply spiritual process that helps you understand Gurbani and yourself better, it also cannot fulfill you. There is a further process of seeking the truth within oneself that Gurbani teaches us in order for us to be fulfilled by meeting God. Veer Ji and Bhenji describe how often times people mistake this as a failure of the marriage and start to look for someone else, when in fact this is the reality of every relationship because others do not fulfill us. We must follow the path Gurbani has laid out for us.
The second video on true love is also an excellent one to watch because it comes from a Sikhi perspective.
At first glance this class may seem a tad too frivolous for a major research university. But the instructors say it’s not an easy A and its reputation as a meaningful, relevant, and enlightening course has grown steadily over the 14 years it’s been offered. In fact, teachers are forced to turn away eager prospective students every year. This spring, the enrollment will be capped at 100. The class is kept to a manageable size so that students can grapple at a deeply personal level with the material during their discussion sessions.
